How we review software

Short answer: Products are assessed on Windows 10 and Windows 11 against a fixed capability list, and each listing records what the software does, what it cannot do, and what could not be verified.

Selection

  • The product must run on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • It must be actively distributed by its vendor.
  • It must do something meaningfully different from products already listed.

Capability checklist

  • Region, window and full-screen capture
  • Scrolling and full-page capture
  • Annotation depth
  • OCR and text extraction
  • PDF and image export
  • Screen recording
  • Cloud sharing and storage location
  • Chrome integration
  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility

What we deliberately do not score

We publish no numeric ratings and no aggregate scores. Capture needs differ too much between a support agent and a technical writer for a single number to be useful, and a fabricated score would misrepresent how the assessment was made.
